Country music star Trace Adkins is officially single after finalizing his divorce from third wife Rhonda.

The singer’s ex filed divorce papers last year following 16 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences; but earlier this week Radar Online reported that the couple had called off their “$ 20 million divorce.”

Rhonda filed papers on June 1, asking the Chancery Court in Williamson County, Tennessee, to remove her divorce filing from the public record, which was construed as a reconciliation by the website; however, the filing was only done to move the proceedings to a private mediator.

Adkins’ lawyer, Larry Hayes Jr., told Taste of Country.com, set the record straight in a statement.

“Radar Online’s recent report is inaccurate,” Hayes Jr. said. “The Adkins have settled their divorce amicably. Rhonda and Trace made this decision together in the best interest of their family. All that remains is for the court to approve the agreements that have been executed by them both. An updated petition seeking such Court approval will be filed in the coming days.”

This split went much better than his last, in 1994 his second wife Julie shot him in the chest. The bullet reportedly went through his heart and both lungs and he’s lucky to be alive. The couple divorced soon after.

Adkins and his latest ex-wife share three daughters, MacKenzie, Brianna and Trinity. He has two other daughters with first wife Barbara.
