Justin Bieber has been found guilty of assault and careless driving in his native Ontario, Canada, but thanks to a plea deal has gotten off virtually scot-free.

The singer and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez were riding an ATV last August and their joy-ride ended in a physical altercation with a photographer. Bieber crashed the four-wheeler into the minivan of a paparazzo and then things got heated between the two.

Bieber was charged with simple assault, careless driving and dangerous driving, and during a court appearance via Skype on Thursday the singer admitted his guilt in exchange for lesser charges.

The court dropped the dangerous driving charge, a criminal offense in Canada, and fined him a whopping $ 750.

“The lesson in all of this is to think before you act in the future,” Justice Kathryn McKerlie told Bieber, according to Entertainment Tonight Canada.

The paparazzo also faced charges of his own as he was trespassing on Bieber’s land. He pleaded guilty in a previous court appearance.
