We know you’re bummed that The Voice is over, so this week we sat down with all four of your finalists for one last conversation about season 8. First up is Team Pharrell’s spirited pop singer and fourth place finisher, Koryn Hawthorne.

“This has been an amazing journey and an amazing ride,” Koryn told us in our exit interview, “and I’m so thankful to be a part of just the Voice legacy.”

While the audience at home waited to find out who would be named the winner last Tuesday, she might have been the calmest finalist in the history of the show.

“I didn’t really think about it too much,” she explained. “I always said that my goal was to make it to the finale, so just to be in that moment and to have that experience, I was really thankful.

“That’s why I was so calm,” she added. “I really wasn’t worried about it.”

Instead, she was more focused on enjoying her “bring backperformance, where she got to reconnect with some of her fellow contestants, as well as her duet of “I’d Rather Go Blind” with superstar (and former Voice advisor) Kelly Clarkson.

“Just to have the experience to bring back people was amazing,” she reflected. “All of my friends and just people I got really close to on the show, that was an amazing moment to experience.”

If you can’t tell, she likes the word ‘amazing,’ and we think she’s pretty amazing herself. All season long, Koryn was one of the most upbeat, most engaging personalities on the show, spreading positivity wherever she went.

And fans will be happy to know that she has no intention of stopping, plus that we can hopefully enjoy more collaborations between her and her coach, Pharrell. She told us that she’s “most definitely’ interested in continuing to work with Pharrell going forward. With him alongside her, she should have an exciting career ahead.

But more importantly than any sort of professional success, Koryn wanted to inspire viewers and music fans with the work she did on the show, and she told us that she believes she’s done that.

“I connected with the people and I think that’s really important,” she enthused. “That’s winning to me. That’s something I wanted to do and I’m reaching people all over the world. I’m proud of that. I’m proud that I got to inspire somebody.”
