Between SNL 40, five hours of The Bachelor, and too many dating rumors to keep up with (mind blown over Prince Harry and Emma Watson), I’m so ready for this weekend. My Oscar picks are prepped and ready for Sunday night, but here’s a look at what else is going on in entertainment land this weekend.

WHAT TO SEE IN THEATERS

The Duff Consider this the Mean Girls of this decade. You’ll have to forgive a cliche or two, but adorable performances from Parenthood’s Mae Whitman and The Flash’s Robbie Amell make up most of the difference.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 If you’re in any way offended by juvenile, vulgar humor, you’ll probably want to stay home for this one. But if you’re looking for some silly, mindless giggles and keep your expectations low, Craig Robinson and Co. deliver in this sequel.

McFarland USA There’s nothing groundbreaking here in this feel-good movie about an underprivileged track team in the late ’80s, but you’ll walk way with a renewed love for Kevin Costner and running—with a heaping serving of inspiration on the side.

WHAT TO STREAM

house-of-cards-season-2

House of Cards It’s T-minus one week until the undermining Underwoods return to Netflix, so the obvious thing to do this weekend is re-binge on all their conniving ways from seasons one and two.

05-orphan-black

Orphan Black Technically, this doesn’t become available until after the weekend, but I couldn’t wait to tell you: Season two hits Amazon Prime exclusively on Monday. Combine that with the news that season three will premiere across all AMC networks, and I’m officially on an Orphan Black high.

WHAT TO READ

kind-worth-killing

The Kind Worth Killing Full disclosure: I haven’t read Peter Swanson’s latest yet, but I’m passing along anyways because it comes with the highest words of recommendation from my uncle at the great Bookhampton. He describes it as psychological thriller with a strong Strangers on a Train feel—in other words, I can’t wait to dive in.

WHAT TO ADD TO YOUR PLAYLIST

“Time Machine” Ingrid Michaelson This star-studded music video (which debuted this week) had me cracking up (Rainn Wilson forever slays me), but it’s the song that’s been stuck in my head ever since.

WHAT TO WATCH ON TV

oscars-neil-patrick-harris

The 87th Academy Awards The main draw is seeing what films, actors, and actresses go home Oscar winners. But first-time host Neil Patrick Harris, performances from Lady Gaga, Anna Kendrick, and Jennifer Hudson, and a whole slew of A-list presenters certainly don’t hurt either. Airs Sunday on ABC at 8:30 P.M.

downton-abbey-1

Downton Abbey season five finale This one has the unfortunate task of airing smack dab in the middle of the Oscars, but if you’re looking for an alternative to the awards show, this finale has plenty to offer. Otherwise, schedule your DVR accordingly. Airs Sunday on PBS at 9 P.M.

Check back in Sunday night and Monday for more Oscars coverage, and have a great weekend!
