It just wouldn’t be a proper summer if you weren’t hanging out by the pool with a margarita in your hand, right? And since you’re smart enough to always put sunscreen on every part of your body (including your lips), you may be wondering why your lips still get sunburned every time you find yourself out by the pool with a margarita in hand.

We asked New York City dermatologist David Bank what the deal is—and found out the problem lies in your citrusy beverage. News flash: Citric acid has dissolving properties that have a tendency to break down certain sunscreens….
